| JOB OBJECTIVE/SUMMARY:
To effectively manage the relationship between the MfB and tax authorities, thus enhancing smooth, hitch-free interaction with Inland & Internal Revenue Services |
|
| DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Ensure full compliance with all relevant tax laws and finance acts applicable to the MfB (CIT, EDT, PAYE, WHT, VAT, TP, CRS, etc). ii. Ensure and monitor payment of taxes to the relevant government authorities. iii. Ensure that deductions of taxes are made from applicable transactions. iv. Coordinate tax audits and supervise tax functions across the MfB. v. Exploring ways within the tax system and laws that the MfB can take advantage of. vi. Put in place a process for the prompt filing of annual tax returns (PAYE and company income tax). vii. Review tax (PAYE, WHT and CIT) accruals made in the general ledger for adequacy and reconcile to schedule. viii. Perform year end accrual review and prepare tax provision with supporting schedules. ix. Work with payroll unit to ensure the deduction of taxes and that taxes deducted are correct. x. Handle all tax information request including processing of tax clearance for staff and the MfB. xi. Improve tax processes of the MfB by developing or implementing best practices. xii. Identify and mitigate tax risks. xiii. Provide innovative tax planning for the staff and the MfB. xiv. Ensuring prompt responses to queries on demand notices and other correspondences before deadlines to relevant government authorities. xv. Remittance of WHT deductions and VAT payments to relevant tax authorities; and xvi. Provide monthly update on tax information as it affects the MfB, in addition to identifying and mitigating tax risks. |

| KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
i. Timeliness in preparation of all necessary tax reports / returns. ii. Timeliness in response to requests and queries from revenue services. iii. Incidents of financial exposure or loss due to negligence in all tax related matters; and iv. Accurate and prompt remittances of all relevant taxes |

| JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education: A good bachelor’s degree/HND in Accountancy. Professional accounting certification and MBA will be added advantage. Experience: Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a reputable firm or company |

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft office programmes Sound knowledge of best practices in financial management Knowledge of relevant accounting packages Knowledge of all relevant and up to date tax laws Knowledge of existing regulatory framework Knowledge of industry and economic environment, both locally and globally |
